What are the Safest Cities in Middle Tennessee?

An annual report is released yearly describing the safest cities in Tennessee. The list is comprised of the top 20 cities located throughout the state. However, it's worth noting that almost half of those cities are in Middle Tennessee.

The report reviews each city and averages the crime per one thousand residents. They looked at violent crime and property crime. Over half of the cities listed made the cut at least two years in a row with some of the lowest crime rates.

Safest Cities in Middle TN

1. Belle Meade

The city is located in Davidson County. It's an excellent location for those who have to commute to downtown. The population sits just under 3,000 with a median income of $195,000.

  • Property Crime Rate Per 1,000 = 10

 

2. Pleasant View

The second on the list is Pleasant View located in Cheatham County which is situated just west of Davidson County. The population is over four thousand, with an average income of around $80,000 annually. It's a great location for those who work in Nashville but want to want cheaper housing.

  • Violent Crime Rate Per 1,000 = 0.23

  • Property Crime Rate Per 1,000 = 15

 

3. Brentwood

One of the larger towns on our list is Brentwood. It has a population of 43,468 and has an average income of $151,700 a year. Brentwood is centrally located and safe choice for families. The commute to Nashville is around 20 minutes, but the area itself is known for housing a lot of corporate spaces.

  • Violent Crime Rate Per 1,000 = 0.71

  • Property Crime Rate Per 1,000 = 9.41

 

4. Coopertown

Residents say they like Coopertown because it has a safe rural feel. The school systems are ranked above average. Great for families who want to establish themselves near Clarksville or Nashville. The average salary is $61,000 and has a population of 4,455.

  • Property Crime Rate Per 1,000 = 4.04

 

5. Nolensville

Another rural town with great schools is Nolensville. The city sits between I-65 and I-24 giving residents a couple of options to commute. The population is 7,889 with an income of $120,00 on average per household.

  • Property Crime Rate Per 1,000 = 12.68

 

6. Sparta

A smaller country town just on the Middle Tennessee border is Sparta. There are a lot of natural areas for those who want to be close to nature and walking trails. It's situated nicely between Nashville, Chattanooga, and Knoxville.

  • Violent Crime Rate Per 1,000 = 1.57

  • Property Crime Rate Per 1,000 = 60.18

 

7. Spring Hill

The city of Spring Hill is divided between Maury and Williamson County. Just 30 years ago the city had a population of 800. It was known as a farm town, but it's recently exceeded the 800 population sitting just under 40,000. It's within driving distance of Franklin and Columbia and just 35 minutes from downtown Nashville. The average household income is just over $86,000.

  • Violent Crime Rate Per 1,000 = 1.73

  • Property Crime Rate Per 1,000 = 10.03

 

8. Mount Juliet

In the ranking, Mount Juliet has dropped a few places but still remains on the list. It's in Wilson County and is considered a suburb of Nashville. It's about 17 miles to the capital. A good location for those who want affordable housing and good schools but need to commute. The population is 34,888 and a median income of $80,000 a year.

  • Violent Crime Rate Per 1,000 = 1.75

  • Property Crime Rate Per 1,000 = 17.57

 

9. Hendersonville

The largest city in Sumner County is Hendersonville. It's close to Old Hickory Lake and a relatively short commute to Nashville. People move to Hendersonville when they want to rent or own affordable property but need to be centrally located. The population is around 58,000, which means there are plenty of amenities. The median income is just under $66,000.

  • Violent Crime Rate Per 1,000 = 1.76

  • Property Crime Rate Per 1,000 = 17.52
